Who doesn’t love a stunning new piece of jewelry? When we at OCDesignonline were putting together this beautiful and functional new eBay storefront design for our client Gem Colorz we ended up browsing a few pieces ourselves. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend after all.
Extended categories boost SEO for our client
The main goal we pursued with this eBay store design was to optimize their search engine results. We did this by following a few basic SEO principles.
Just in case you aren’t familiar with SEO, it is the practice of optimizing your website to rank higher in search engines by creating quality content that links to other content. The more something is linked by multiple pages on the web, the more trustworthy that site appears to Google, Bing, and Yahoo!. Ideally other sites should be linking to our client (like we are in this article) but having multiple links to different sections of our client’s store on the store’s main page is very helpful as well in the eyes of search engine crawlers.
Our fundamental strategy with this SEO boosting design was focusing on Gem Colorz’s large category list and bringing them out onto the page, as described above. Gem Colorz sells a large variety gemstones so we showed the extensive list under the gemstone category listing on this main page so that each of these gemstone terms would be associated with our client in the eyes of Google.
We also increased sales with weekly deals and featured products
Also on the main shopping page we created weekly deals and featured products section that our client can use to bring attention to seasonal items, on sale products or products with a high mark up value, or even the trendiest jewelry of the moment.
Having these sections in a store boosts sales because it shares what a store has to offer at a glance, which encourages more browsing time for customers. The more a customer browses a store, the more they add to their shopping cart.
In addition to the above techniques, our client also received individual category pages and custom eBay listing templates in their package.
