Website design

One thing we’ve seen often from web owners and eCommerce entrepreneurs is that getting one custom design is all you need. Years may pass and their site stays stagnant, no matter how the internet landscape has changed. Many people assume that what worked then, must work now, “especially for the price I paid for it!”

And it just isn’t true. Web design best practices change every year, so what worked in the design you bought 5 years ago or more is not helping your business now. In fact, it’s probably hurting your sales.

Then, beauty over function comes into question. Some designs may look nice on the exterior, but then don’t perform well internally. Your site needs to encourage conversions and sales, be easily indexable by Google search engines, and help your products and services shine without looking cluttered. That has nothing to do with whether or not your site has a cool animation.

Elaborate websites with entry pages, flash animation, a rainbow of colors, pages that just exist for keyword stuffing, many kinds of typography, and all those things that seemed really fun on websites ten years ago does not work anymore. Let it go, get a new custom WordPress design.

To help you decide if you need a new website redesign, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Was your website designed 5 or more years ago?
  2. Do you have a lot of clutter on your homepage?
  3. Are you missing valuable local SEO info, like a contact page and about page?
  4. Have you heard multiple times that your customers can’t find what they are looking for?
  5. Do you see a high percentage of bounce rates in your analytics?
  6. Are you not optimized for different screen sizes?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you need to contact us for a custom quote.

Are you not working on the WordPress platform? Don’t worry. Our team has experience in eBay store designs, Volusion templates, Shopify themes,  Amazon website designs, Rakuten store designs, and even Magento templates. You can see examples of the designs we’ve created for these store categories on our blog, Pinterest, and our design portfolio.

Each type of eCommerce platform requires a different touch, as best practices vary depending on the internal infrastructure and the type of customers that use that platform. Shoppers on eBay are totally different than shoppers and content readers on WordPress.

We create designs that are easy to navigate, showcase your inventory and brand in a marketable way, optimize your store for mobile viewers, help keep customers from abandoning their carts, and so much more. Having a mobile-optimized design is so important in this day and age when consumers are shopping on mobile devices more than ever before.

Need more proof? We’ve worked with Microsoft. Check out Microsoft’s eBay store design story for more info. And if you’d rather go try other designers, check out this story from Ultimate Autographs. They spent thousands on other designers and was not satisfied with their website at all, so they came to the OCDesignsonline team to get the design they really wanted and needed.

All in all, taking your eCommerce design into the new century is a necessity for a well-performing business. What worked then, doesn’t work now. Get in contact with us and you’ll see.
